He was a pioneer in Macro photography. His great photographs published in various journals  including National Geographic. He was awarded distinction of excellence from Federation  Internationale  de l'Art Photographique (FIAP) twice.

A  species of frog, Raorchestes jayarami  found in Valparai ,and a species of spider Myrmarachne jayaramani  had named after him, years ago.
